An 82-year-old male driver has died after a motor vehicle collision in Whitby on Monday afternoon.
On Monday, September 13, 2021 at approximately 2:04 p.m., members from Central West Division responded to a motor vehicle collision involving a van and a pick-up truck on Lake Ridge Road north of Columbus Road West.
A 82-year-old male of Whitby was driving a grey Honda Odyssey southbound on Lake Ridge Road when it collided with a northbound black Ford F-150 pick-up truck being operated by a 30-year-old male of Ajax. The driver of the Honda sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene. A female passenger of the Honda was airlifted to a Toronto-area trauma centre with serious injuries. The driver of the pick-up truck was transported to a Toronto-area trauma centre with serious injuries.
Members of the Collision Investigation Unit were called and the roadway in the area was closed for several hours to collect evidence and conduct their investigation. The investigation is ongoing. Police would like to hear from any witnesses to this collision, who have not already spoken to police.
