Appointment of Citizens to Committees

The appointment of Oshawa citizens and stakeholders to boards and committees give the public an opportunity to volunteer their skills and time to deal with various issues associated with our City. During COVID-19 restrictions, meetings are being held electronically

City Council will consider the names of Oshawa citizens and stakeholders who wish to stand for appointment.  An application form must be completed with a resume attached and is available at (under News & Alerts or by searching “Volunteer Opportunities”).  The deadline for receipt of completed application forms is 4:30 p.m., Thursday, December 23, 2021.

Further information related to the appointment may be obtained by calling City Clerk Services at 905-436-3311.  Applicants will be contacted for an interview. 

Heritage Oshawa

Advise and assist Council on all matters relating to the designation and preservation of heritage properties as well as the education and promotion of the City’s cultural heritage resources. (One vacancy to November 2023)

Oshawa Active Transportation Advisory Committee

Advise and assist City Council and City staff on matters relating to the design, development, implementation and monitoring of policies, programs and facilities to enhance and promote a safe, sustainable and accessible active transportation system within the City of Oshawa. (Two vacancies to November 2023)

Airport Community Liaison Committee

To undertake initiatives and provide input, ideas, feedback and discussion in all areas of community awareness and outreach relating to the Oshawa Executive Airport.  The Airport User/Business Member must currently have an aviation business or aircraft based at the airport. Term is until November 2022 (One vacancy for User/Business Member).

Oshawa Public Library Board

The Library Board determines and adopts policies to govern operation and programs of the Library; determines goals of the Library and secures adequate funds to fulfill these goals; understands the Library’s programs and needs of the community in relation to the Library and keeps abreast of standards and Library trends.  Must be a Canadian citizen, 18 years of age or over, resident of Oshawa, and cannot be an employee of the Library or the City.  Monthly meetings and committee work. (One vacancy to November 2022).
