Appointment of Citizens to Committees
The appointment of Oshawa citizens and stakeholders to boards and committees give the public an opportunity to volunteer their skills and time to deal with various issues associated with our City. Committee Meetings are held once per month with the exception of Committee of Adjustment. During COVID-19 restrictions, meetings are being held electronically
City Council will consider the names of Oshawa citizens and stakeholders who wish to stand for appointment. An application form must be completed with a resume attached and is available at www.oshawa.ca (under News & Alerts or by searching “Volunteer Opportunities”). The deadline for receipt of completed application forms is 4:30 p.m., Friday, September 24, 2021.

Advise and assist Council on all matters relating to the designation and preservation of heritage properties as well as the education and promotion of the City’s cultural heritage resources. (One vacancy to November 2023)
Oshawa Active Transportation Advisory Committee
Advise and assist City Council and City staff on matters relating to the design, development, implementation and monitoring of policies, programs and facilities to enhance and promote a safe, sustainable and accessible active transportation system within the City of Oshawa. (One vacancy to November 2023)
Oshawa Environmental Advisory Committee
Assist, advise and educate City Council, staff, and the community with respect to the protection, enhancement, restoration, management and appreciation of the natural and built environments. (One vacancy to November 2023)
Oshawa Animal Care Advisory Committee
To assist, advise and educate City Council, staff, key stakeholders and the wider Oshawa community with respect to continually improving the efficient and compassionate care of animals within the City of Oshawa. A key part of OACAC’s function will be to: find and evaluate potential initiatives; provide expert opinions and network with other subject matter experts on issues; assist and promote existing and future projects; support fundraising and grant applications; and facilitate training of stakeholders and the general public. (Two stakeholder vacancies)
Airport Community Liaison Committee
To undertake initiatives and provide input, ideas, feedback and discussion in all areas of community awareness and outreach relating to the Oshawa Executive Airport. Community members will reside either adjacent to the airport or along any of its flight paths and will have no present or past affiliation with the airport as a user, employee or business relation or affiliation that may be deemed as impeding impartial judgement when representing the community. The Airport User/Business Member must currently have an aviation business or aircraft based at the airport. Term is until November 2022 (Two vacancies; one Community Member and one User/Business Member).
