Ardanaz joins women’s hockey program

The Ontario Tech Ridgebacks women’s hockey team have added another forward to their young line up with the addition of Melisa Ardanaz.
“I chose Ontario Tech because I really felt the university and athletic department put a huge emphasis on the student-athlete’s mental health which is extremely important to me,” said Ardanaz. “The Ridgebacks have built a culture and a family like atmosphere that I cannot wait to be a part of. I am excited to be a Ridgeback.”
Born in Surrey, B.C., Ardanaz has spent the last four years with the Delta Hockey Academy working her way through the prep ranks, contributing to a playoff run in the 2021-22 season.
Over the four seasons she finished with six goals and 20 points over 67 games.
“Melisa brings a work ethic second to none. She likes to be first on the forecheck and first on the back-check,” said Ridgebacks head coach Justin Caruana. “I look forward to the energy she will provide to our group and can’t wait to work with her.”
Ardanaz will be enrolling in the psychology program when she arrives on campus this fall.
