Bullion joins ECHL’s Norfolk Admirals

OSHAWA, Ont. – Ontario Tech’s Michael Bullion (Anchorage, Alaska) has signed with the Norfolk Admirals (ECHL).
“The Ridgebacks provided an opportunity to not only hone my craft, but to learn the discipline to play at a pro-level while also treating myself mentally and physically in a professional manner,” said Bullion. “I have nothing but fantastic memories with this group and our coaching staff, and I want nothing but the best for everyone in the Ridgebacks.”
The political science major was in his third season with the Ridgeback men’s hockey program and fourth year academically.
“Nobody works harder than this young man on and off the ice,” said head coach Curtis Hodgins. “That will pay off as he now transitions into professional hockey. He has been sensational in our net and given us a chance to win each and every night, and at the same time has been a leader in the classroom, maintaining over a 4.0 GPA. We look forward to watching his future successes.”
The netminder finished the first half of the 2021-22 season with a 4-1-0 record, including his first career OUA shutout. Throughout his time at Ontario Tech, he has a 20-15-0 record, alongside a career .914 save percentage and 2.57 goals against average.
With the restart of the OUA hockey season expected to be late January, although not confirmed due to provincial government health guidelines, Bullion said the opportunity to join the Norfolk Admirals was sudden.
“It’s been a stressful two weeks dealing with all the implications of leaving. However, with the world situation as is, it seems fitting to leave and start making a name for myself.”
The Norfolk Admirals hit the ice this Friday against the South Carolina Stingrays at 7 p.m.
