Burton joins women’s hockey program for 2022-23 season

OSHAWA, Ont. – The Ontario Tech women’s hockey team is excited to announce the commitment of Elissa Burton to the program.
The 5’6 blue-liner from Bowmanville joins the Ridgebacks most recently from the Kingston Jr. Ice Wolves of the Provincial Women’s Hockey League (PWHL).
“I chose Ontario Tech because of how functional it is for me,” she said. “It was close to home and has a very reputable program I am interested in studying, along with a high-level hockey program I now get to be a part of. I’m excited for my future at Ontario Tech and being a Ridgeback.”
While seasons were limited due to the pandemic during her time with Kingston, Burton finished her 2019 regular season with Durham West in the PWHL with two goals and nine points in 35 games.
“Elissa is a mobile defender with a good hockey sense,” said head coach Justin Caruana. “She brings urgency and grit to all three zones. I’m excited to have Elissa as a Ridgeback and look forward to working with her in the future.”
Burton will study engineering or commerce starting in fall 2022.
