Oshawa, Ont. – The Oshawa Generals are thrilled to announce the commitment of goaltender Patrick Leaver to the organization.
Leaver, the Perth, Ont. native was the 8th round, 158th overall selection by the Gens in the 2019 OHL Priority Selection. He was a member of the Westport Rideaus of the CCHL2 during the 2019-2020 season where he started 27 games finishing with a 2.75 GAA and .920 SAV%, and a 16-6-1 record.
The 6’0, 165-pound goaltender was also invited to Hockey Canada’s National Under-17 Development Camp in 2019, alongside current Generals Brett Harrison and Daniel Michaud.
“Patrick is going to come in and shore up our goaltending situation,” says team General Manager Roger Hunt. “We’ve got goalies now at a number of different ages so it’s an area we now expect to be strong in for years to come, and we are excited that Patrick is going to be a part of that now.”
Leaver says he is excited to officially join the organization.
“It’s an honour,” says Leaver. “It’s big shoes to fill as you look at the other people who have come through the organization, the likes of Ken Appleby and Kyle Keyser, but I am up to the challenge. I am just hoping to help bring another championship to Oshawa.”
