Hertz gets first career shutout in win over Lakers

OSHAWA, Ont. – It was a fast-paced afternoon at the Campus Ice Center for the Ontario Tech men’s hockey team, grabbing a 3-0 win over the Nipissing.
 
Despite an action-packed first period, neither team was able to find the back of the net.
 
In the second period, the Ridgebacks were able to crack Brett Epp, with Cullen McLean (Whitby, Ont.) grabbing the game’s first goal.
 

 
Going into the third with the lead, the Ridgebacks continued to push, grabbing two more goals, both scored by Matthieu Gomercic (Winnipeg, Man.)
 
Leif Hertz (Kingston, Ont.) saved 23 shots on net and grabbed his first career shutout, while Epp made 21 saves in the loss.
 
Ontario Tech is home again on Sunday against the Queen’s Gaels at 3 p.m.
