OSHAWA, Ont. – After one semester at Ontario Tech, freshman forward Cameron Hough (Uxbridge, Ont.) has joined the Wheeling Nailers of the East Coast Hockey League (ECHL).
“I would like to thank Cameron for his contributions to our program during the first half of our season and wish him nothing but the best in his future endeavours,” said head coach Curtis Hodgins.
Hough played eight games with the Ridgebacks after attending Wheeling’s training camp in the fall, scoring three goals, and dishing one assist during that time.
“I attended Training camp in Wheeling and had kept in contact with the coach over the following months. When our first half finished at Ontario Tech, he reached out offering me an opportunity to play pro,” said Hough. “Due to the fact that Ontario has put restrictions back into effect, as well as the pause of U SPORTS, it put me in a situation where I felt it was better for me to turn to pro in guaranteeing me a full season.”
Hough has appeared in 10 games for the Nailers and notched two assists. He also says he plans to continue his education at Ontario Tech while playing in the ECHL.
“My time as a Ridgeback helped me develop not only in hockey playing with older, bigger, faster guys but as well as maturing as a person through schooling and friends.”
