Ridgebacks split opening weekend of preseason play

OSHAWA, Ont. – The Ontario Tech women’s hockey team wrapped up their first weekend of action with a 4-1 loss to the Guelph Gryphons at the Campus Ice Centre on Saturday.
 
With a defensive start from both teams, Rylee Davison opened the scoring for the Gryphons, assisted by Hannah Tait, just seven seconds into the second period.

Baie Marcantonio (New Westminster, B.C.) tied the game for Ontario Tech on the power play, assisted by Madeline Schroder (Kitchener, Ont.), at the 11:43 mark of the second. 
 



Gabriele Underwood scored the eventual game-winning goal for the Gryphons just under two minutes later. Nicole MacKinnon and Davison rounded out the Gryphons scoring.. 
 
Zoe McGee (Kanata, Ont.) and Brooke Vial (Port Moody, B.C.) collectively made 27 saves, while Alexandrea Davidson made 12 for in the Gryphons win.
 
Ontario Tech will next face the Laurier Golden Hawks in Waterloo on Thursday night.
