City of Pickering Recognizes the Passing of David Onley

Pickering, ON, January 15, 2023 – The Mayor and Members of Council of the City of Pickering express their deepest sorrow on the passing of former Ontario Lieutenant Governor, David Onley.  All flags at City of Pickering facilities will be flown at half-mast to recognize his passing.

“It is with heavy hearts that we mourn the loss of an inspirational leader, ground breaking public servant, and a great man.  Our community has lost a true champion who was renowned for his intelligence and dignity as well as his unwavering commitment to accessibility.

His dedication to making our community a more inclusive and equitable place for all will be deeply missed.  His contributions have left an indelible mark, and his legacy will live on through the countless lives he touched and the policies he helped to shape.
