Pickering, ON, July 12, 2023 – The City of Pickering seeks input from residents on identifying priorities in creating the new Pickering Community Safety & Well-Being framework.
Durham Region has created a Community Safety & Well-Being Plan, mandated through the Police Services Act. This Plan identified 7 Priority Risk Factors in the Region (Mental Health, Substance Use, Homelessness & Basic Needs, Criminal Involvement, Victimization, Social Isolation, and Experiences of Racism).
As a lower-tier municipality, the City of Pickering met the legislated mandate as a participant in this Plan. Staff at the City are dedicated to engaging and developing a Pickering-specific framework to ensure we are addressing community questions and concerns. In defining this, we are held accountable to our local community and in supporting the Durham Region Community Safety and Well-Being Plan.
Employee and resident community safety and well-being is our top priority as the City of Pickering explores ideas and initiatives to incorporate in our local plans.
Please help by taking 5-10 minutes to answer our survey, to best inform the priorities of this Work Plan for Pickering.
The survey will be open from July 1 – August 10, 2023.
