Pickering, ON, September 14, 2023 – Local Mr. Lube franchise owner, and longtime Pickering resident and philanthropist, Mani Shankar, has launched a community fundraiser, with the goal of raising $20,000 for the Pickering Animal Shelter.
The Mr. Lube franchise network is spread throughout Canada and allows for franchise owners to support local causes dear to the communities in which they are situated. The majority of this charitable work is carried out by the Mr. Lube Foundation, which, since its inception in 2002, has raised and donated over $6.1 million to charities across the country.
“We are amazed and extremely grateful at this kind gesture,” said Lindsey Narraway, Supervisor, Animal Services. “This is the largest private business fundraiser that has ever been organized for us. We are honoured to have been selected, and continue to be deeply inspired by the generosity of Pickering’s local businesses and residents.”
For the month of September, a portion of the proceeds from every oil change completed at participating Mr. Lube stores will be donated to the Pickering Animal Shelter.
Funds raised will go towards the care and housing of stray and homeless pets in the community, as well as the construction of a new, permanent animal shelter in Pickering.
