New Superheroes in Training Program

Pickering, ON, July 15, 2021 –  New Superheroes in Training Program

Ever dream of becoming a superhero? If so, this program is the one for you! The City of Pickering has launched an exciting new initiative that seeks to ensure the lives of Pickering residents are enriched by programs and services that support active and engaging activities in our community. The City of Pickering is also exploring opportunities to build more inclusive and accessible programs for Pickering residents.

The City of Pickering is offering a New Superheroes in Training program for children ages 4 – 6, with the support of  Jumpstart. The City of Pickering is one of the many organizations across the country to be provided with this grant support, receiving $15,000 to assist with strategies to return to sport and recreation programming.  We are grateful to Jumpstart and thrilled to offer this opportunity to our community.

This Superheroes in Training program will operate twice a week on Wednesdays and Fridays at the George Ashe Library and Community Centre beginning on Wednesday, August 4th. Two time slots are available for participants to choose from: Session 1 operates from 4:30 pm – 5:30 pm and session 2 operates from 6:00 pm – 7:00 pm. With the help of Jumpstart we were able to purchase a variety of new equipment to add to the success of this program. Each week participants can train hard by completing various obstacle courses to defeat numerous villains and save the world. Throughout the program, various crafts will be completed to enhance participants very own superhero persona.
