What are Waste-Free Wednesday Cleanups?

As a continuation to the Provincial Day of Action on Litter, we will now be promoting Waste-Free Wednesday Cleanups throughout the summer.

Encouraging Ontarians to get outside and take part in safe litter cleanups in their local communities, following public health measures and advice.

Together we can continue to take action to prevent, reduce and divert waste.

Reducing waste: giving old products new life instead of throwing them away. For example, using old containers for storage.

Diverting waste: recycling or composting materials when and where possible to divert waste away from landfills. For example, by using your blue and green bins.

Preventing waste: stopping waste before its created. For example, by choosing to buy goods with less packaging.

For more information please download the Litter Cleanup Guide and report your cleanup using the Litter Cleanup Reporting Form.

Be sure to use the hashtags #WasteFreeWednesday #actONlitter in your social media posts.

There are some Clean Up Packages available for pick at the Township office, 181 Perry Street near the drop boxes in the rear vestibule.  The office is not open to the public but you are able to come in to pick up a package from the box on the table.  Please only one per cleanup as supplies are limited.
